Will Taylor Closes Odeon Summer Concert Series
With Light Show and Surprises

Will Taylor
and Strings Attached, performing at the Odeon Theater in Mason,
will bring with them a light projection show produced by Austin
light master Charles Beard. The light show is choreographed
to the musical tribute to the Beatles. Other surprises and
announcements will be part of the last concert of the spring/summer
concert series. The concert series is a fund raising project
to help the Odeon Preservation Association raise money for
improvements and renovations to the old 1928 theater. Performing
July 25 at 7:00 PM Will Taylor and Strings attached will present
their tribute to the Beatles. Reservations are $15 per person
and must be made in advance.
Will Taylor is the driving force behind the Austin based string
ensemble Will Taylor and Strings Attached. Taylor, a fabulously
gifted musician-composer-arranger-producer-teacher has put
together a unique group of classically and otherwise trained
musicians who perform a WIDE VARIETY of music at an "international
touring level". Beginning in 1999, Will Taylor implemented
a new idea after brainstorming with other local Austin musicians.
Taylor began collaborating with both local and nationally
renowned artists, rearranging their known material and brought
in his own crew of seasoned jazz and contemporary roots musicians
to play. Since then Will Taylor and Strings Attached have
presented over 50 concert collaborations to over 15000 audience
members, countless more through four KGSR Live Radio broadcasts,
and many appearances on KUT, KLBJ, KMFA and KOOP Radio. The
last few years they've expanded the repertoire to include
Album/Band tribute shows where again the music is re-arranged
and reinterpreted by Will and the ensemble. In 2006, over
1600 Beatles fans saw them re-create the entire White album.
They've also presented the music of Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell,
Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel and Jimi Hendrix. Guest artists
they've collaborated with include: Shawn Colvin, Joe Ely,
Dar Williams, James McMurtry, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Ruthie Foster,
Abra Moore, Darden Smith, Tish Hinojosa, Sara Hickman, Ray
Wylie Hubbard, Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves, Suzi Stern,
Kellye Gray, Guy Forsyth, Jimmy LaFave, Ray Wylie Hubbard,
Jon Dee Graham, Kimmie Rhodes, Ian Moore, and Chip Taylor
and Carrie Rodriguez.
And though these individual group members are accomplished
soloists, when they team up as Strings Attached, the landscape
changes completely, as they expand the collaborative artist's
vision into an other-worldly territory, without sacrificing
the intent or spirit of the original works. Read more about

Concert Season opens with
Christine Albert and Chris Gage

In Austin, Texas—a town overflowing with gifted singer/songwriters and guitar
players—Christine Albert & Chris Gage have a twelve year track record of making beautiful
music together, although both musicians' individual pedigrees are far more extensive. Over
the course of six duet albums, the duo has demonstrated that disparate backgrounds do not
preclude musical soul mates from finding one another.
The Houston Press noted, “From George Jones and Tammy Wynette to Richard and
Linda Thompson, male-female duets are one of popu
lar music's most delightful permutations.
And the Austin-based duo of Christine Albert and Chris Gage easily slot right in with the best.”

The Legendary Butch Hancock coming in August to the Odeon

This Lubbock-bred balladeer has often been compared to Bob Dylan but this comparison flatters Dylan. Butch Hancock is as much of a satirist as he is prolific, having written hundreds of songs that deliver a morality tale in a way that both makes listeners laugh and scratch their heads at the same time. Although he regularly performs with fellow Flatlanders Joe Ely & Jimmie Dale Gilmore and has performed with many notable musicians around the world, this singer-songwriter holds his own as a soloist, accompanied by guitar and harmonica with lyrics that are unmistakenly Texan in origin but cosmic in scope. This is a performance you cannot miss.
